There are a few things that I really love and one of them is great families. When that element is mixed with incredible fall weather and my baby (camera), I am completely content and flying high. I don’t care if I look like a mess when I am done because I have been running everywhere or lying on the ground, because it is all a part of the fun. Jumping back into photography has been an incredible adventure so when the Parks family asked if I would photograph the family together, my heart leaped with excitement. Another opportunity to be creative and to be with people. The three kids will capture your hearts. From T’s smiles, to S’s steadiness, and A’s sweet nature, I was completely taken. Driving in the car, T says to me, “Do you want a chip? I can share.” Then S’s parents encouraging him to smile takes this statement, “Show us your teeth, S”. The smile he produces can only make you smile in return. Then little A, all I have to do is look at her and my heart melts.

Thanks for the glimpse into your beautiful family, I love how much you love eachother.

Photoshoot in the City

One thing I love about cities is that there are LOTS of places to take pictures, just keep your eye open and they will pop out to you. The textures are so rich too. So recently when Jeremiah asked if I would take some new photos of him for various uses…I immediately thought of the city. Jeremiah and his wife, Amy, are worshippers at heart. They are amazingly gifted in this area. In fact, check out Jeremiah’s website.

So anyways…I went a couple days of earlier and asked God for right the spot to park and start at. The white bridge by the bus station was it! I seriously was so excited about taking some shots here and then while meandering more great backdrops were found. These are a few of my favorites…

Furniture Project

Like I’ve said before, my friends are amazing and they continuously inspire me. So what you are about to see is a result of being inspired by my friend, Tiffany (go and spend some time looking at the amazing creations this woman has come up with, you will be awestruck and hopefully encouraged to try some of the projects on your own…it is what happened to me.)

I am thankful for the furniture Ben and I were given. Almost everything that is wooden in our house, is a hand-me-down except for our kitchen table. This was a huge gift when we got married. As we all know new furniture is not cheap. But I wanted a “new” piece of furniture so I decided to jump in the creative stream. At first I thought I’d do our bedroom furniture. However, it hit me that I should try something a little smaller, you know like a single piece of furniture that doesn’t have to match anything else. I mean, what if I didn’t like it or like doing it. So I scaled down and decided to do a makeover on our desk. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pre-makeover pictures. But it was actually a desk found at the side of the road for the garbage. It was in fine condition and had a light stain on it but definitely was starting to show its usage.

In the end I decided to paint it green. This was inspired by my friend, Nicole’s, desk and a piece of furniture my friend, Lauren, found at a garage sale. I liked those two pieces of furniture because they were different and added something fun to the room. I’ll have to admit that after the first brush of paint, I thought…wow that is green! But I just kept going and here are the results. We love it so much, we are now considering tackling our bedroom furniture after Ben’s done with school this December. (He said he would sand the pieces for me because I HATE sanding). What do you think?

Dance…

This is my beautiful sister, HopeAnn, and her friend, Hilary. They are beautiful women from the inside out and have a desire to use the gift of dance to minister the love of God. Whenever I see them dance, I am swept up into the experience and sense God’s presence fill the atmosphere. God gave Hope a vision sometime ago to begin a dance company. This would be a group of dancers that would dance and dream up productions together to be able to perform at various places. This past year, Hope met Hilary, who has come to share in this vision too. If you have a moment, please pray for them as they continue to seek God on timing and seeing the vision come to reality. Pray for them personally as well as for the company. It can be difficult in the waiting…waiting for a vision/dream to happen…but whether it is days, months, or years, I am so thankful that we can trust God and know that what He has said He will do…He will do! He is so GOOD!
